Welcome to year one.
Position Descriptions
Applications will be taken until
December 31.
Please note that the Guide descriptions are a bit different, so make sure to read them thoroughly before applying! We’re structuring things this way since we don’t run monthly, and this works best for Dystopia Rising: Connecticut.
Story Guide - Our Story Guide will be provided modules, story, and resources to run operations not just in Logistics, but also in the field. Our Story Guides will be able to adjust the narrative, within guidelines, to adjust to player impact in the field. Story Guides need to have a keen eye for player engagement, scene safety, and providing as much immersion as possible. You do not need to have a strong knowledge of existing mechanics since we will train applicants on the new DR Live system. Story Guides will be overseeing NPCs in the field, and should have a keen eye when it comes to combat, as well. This role is suggested for directors in charge of story who want hands on training regarding the new system, threat uses, and genre focuses for DR Live.
This position is provided with a free ticket, full experience points, advanced training to be used at local games, and other rewards. We do require timely communication via email, attendance to 2 of 3 virtual meetings, and a 6 hour Guide shift instead of your NPC shift.
Living World Guides - Our Living World Guides will be provided with a casted character (face NPC), key story beats and engagements to be a part of, and a “town structure” that they will be given artistic design and accountability for. Living World Guides will be given a budget to create decorations within guidelines, will set up, tend to, and clean these sites at the end of their event. This position is suggested for people who love making immersive spaces even as a non-guide role, would like to be given a budget for prop design, and enjoy diving into heavy roleplay roles. Please note that since you’ll be transporting props/decor, make sure you have the ability to do so.

Settings guides must do a minimum of 6 hours as their casted character and be present for all key narrative events.
Settings Guides - Our Settings Guides work in tandem with our Story Guides. They ensure that NPCs are costumed appropriately and fit the story that is being told. They’re also responsible for briefing NPCs on how they move, act, and respond to the world. Settings Guides should help NPCs get “in character” not just in appearance, but also with their mentality for their roles, helping them with backstories and names if not provided. Settings Guides are suggested for people who want to dive into the genre and setting of the world, and know how to instruct others to do the same.
