This is Where Your Character’s Story Begins

Getting Started
The world died hundreds of years ago, succumbing to a fungal Infection that caused humanity to mutate. Now, in this post-apocalyptic world where the dead walk and where Raiders kill, Strains must work together in order to survive. Welcome to Dystopia Rising: Live — a post-apocalyptic LARP that focuses on horror, survival, and story.
If you’re new to Dystopia Rising Live or are someone who hasn’t played Dystopia Rising in a few years, make sure to read the Player’s Guide, familiarize yourself with the genre, and then you can create your character concept and choose their skills on the database.
Then, email our amazing team at assistance@mostimprobable.com. They will give you a Player Number (or help you retrieve your Player Number) that allows you to login to our database.

Creating Your Character
The first thing you’ll want to do is consider what sort of character you’d like to portray in the world of Dystopia Rising Live and, in particular on the Wailing Shores. As an example, if you’re planning on basing your character out of the Wailing Shores, you will likely have ties to one of the factions or groups present there. Read through the lore, and also read through the Player’s Guide about creating a character.
Then, you can start on costuming. Incorporate pieces that represents them the best. If they’re a mercenary, then you may want to include rusted armor made of license plates. If they’re a scavenger, you may want to include well-worn bags and pouches for quick storage. If they’re a medic, then bring along stained bandages and fake syringes.
If you’re not sure where to begin, aim for stained, rugged, and piecemeal. We also highly recommend looking at tutorials from Nuclear Snail Studios for extra tips.

What to Expect
As a post-apocalyptic LARP, we aim for full immersion during our in-person and online events. Dystopia Rising: Connecticut doesn’t run on a monthly basis, but instead runs quarterly, with storylines impacting neighboring games with cross plot.
When attending our in-person events, can expect an action-packed weekend with various activities and storylines you can engage with through your character. We aim for high immersion and hands-on design rather than theater or narrative-style design.
For our online events using our Discord, you will be able to go on a series of tabletop-like modules, interacting with various characters in role-play areas, and also have out-of-character channels for hanging out. For our online events, we recommend that you acquire a camera and be in costume. We have a few text-only role-play areas, but the majority of our rooms focus on video and speech to help bring people into the scene. If you plan to go on modules, please note that you will need to have voice chat activated.
